Hermillo Esparza, biologist at Campamento Tortuguero, Nueva Vallarta, Nayarit, MX Biologist Juan Hermilo Esparza is currently employed by Mexico’s National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) to administer the Nuevo Vallarta Sea Turtle Preserve. He has been overseeing the work of eight full- and part-time biologists and student interns since January 2011. Hermilo worked as a consultant with AMA Mexico for six years prior to that while providing technical support to the Platanitos Sea Turtle Preserve. He majored in Environmental Science at the University of Guadalajara with minors in zoology, botany, ecology and neuroscience; He completed his studies in 2006. Hermilo is a native of Guadalajara, Jalisco.
Biologist Sandra Hernandez joined the permanent staff of the Campamento Tortuguero in 2011. Her work is supported by AMA Mexico. In addition to working with the Nuevo Vallarta Sea Turtle Preserve’s conservation program, Sandra oversees AMA Mexico’s environmental education program at local elementary and secondary schools. She is from Guadalajara, Jalisco and completed her degree in Biology at the University of Guadalajara in 2006.
Memo Gonzalez, biologist at Campamento Tortuguero, Nueva Vallarta, Nayarit, MX Guillermo “Memo” Gonzalez Cota has been working at the Campamento Tortuguero since March 2011. Memo studies Marine Biology at the Marine Studies Institute of the Bay of Banderas. He grew up in Cudutitlan, Izcalli, Estado de Mexico.
