Juan Hermilo Esparza is employed by the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) of the Mexican government to serve as the lead biologist at the Campamento Tortuguero, the Nuevo Vallarta Sea Turtle Preserve. Hermilo has worked at this turtle preserve since 2006. He worked here full-time for the turtle season, from September 2006–June 2007. He then worked part-time here and also part-time as a lab technician at the turtle preserve at Platanitos, from 2007–2010. He began working here full-time again in January 2011, and expects to work here for some time to come. Hermilo studied at the University of Guadalajara, majoring in Environmental Science, with minors in zoology, botany, ecology and neuroscience; he completed his studies in 2006. He grew up in Guadalajara, Jalisco. |

Sandra Hernandez joined the Campamento Tortuguero in 2011 as a full-time biologist. Sandra’s work here is supported by AMA Mexico. She is currently directing and implementing an environmental education program in local elementary schools. Sandra studied biology at the public University of Guadalajara, and completed her studies in 2006. She grew up in Guadalajara, Jalisco. |

Guillermo “Memo” Gonzalez Cota joined the team of biologists here at Campamento Tortuguero in March 2011. Memo studied marine biology at Tecnologico de Bahia de Banderas, and completed his studies in 2010. He grew up in Cudutitlan, Izcalli, Estado de Mixico. |
